Description

Nasi goreng (literally meaning “fried rice” in Indonesian) is most probably the most famous Indonesian dish.

As the famous Chinese fried rice, this dish came into existence as a way to avoid throwing leftover rice.

So, if you love rice and I’m pretty sure it might have happened to you to have leftover rice in your fridge, then you really, really need to try this recipe. I think that I like this even more than Chinese fried rice.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Start by heating 1 tsp of oil in a wok/pan and fry the onions until translucent. Add more oil if needed or a lil bit of water.

  2. Add the garlic and chili and sauté for 1 min.

  3. Add the chicken and cook for 5-10 min or until the chicken is cooked through. The smaller the pieces, the faster they’ll cook.

  4. Add the 2 tbsp of soy sauce and mix well.

  5. Add rice and mix everything well. Cook for 1 or 2 more minutes until the rice gets hot.

  6. Serve with fried egg, cucumber slices, tomato and spring onions and chili. And if you are brave, serve it with sambal oelek (Indonesia chilli paste)
