Ashtalieh – Lebanese Pudding
Description
Ashtalieh is one of the quickest, easiest and most delicious desserts I’ve ever made. Ready in 10 minutes, this aromatic pudding will enchant your tastebuds to the core!
Ashtalieh is basically a milk pudding, thickened with cream cheese and corn flour and flavored with rose water and orange blossom water. I love its soft texture and subtle flavor.
Ingredients
For the syrup (optional, it’s good without syrup too)
Instructions
-
Add milk, cream cheese, sugar and corn flour to a pot (dissolve the corn flour in some milk before adding it to the milk in order to prevent lumps) and bring to a boil while stirring. After the pudding started boiling and it’s thick, add the rose water and orange blossom water and turn off the heat.
-
Transfer the puddings into pudding silicone moulds or any cups and let them cool down - you can cover them with plastic foil so that they won’t form any skin.
-
For the sugar syrup, mix the water and sugar and add them to a pan and boil until the sugar has melted. From that moment, keep boiling it for 3 more minutes, then turn off the heat and add the flavored water. Cool down and refrigerate for 6 to 8 hours
-
Serve the pudding with pistachio and syrup. Enjoy!
