Description

Are you ready to travel to Cambodia? If yes, stay with me so that I can present to you this Cambodian Raw Mango Salad with Smoked Salmon (Nhoam Svay Trei Cha'eur).

If you like salads and if you are looking for something light with an Asian twist, then this is the answer! This Cambodian salad is so fresh and light that I am sure you will fall in love with it. The combination between the salty smoked salmon and the sweet mango is simply amazing and it makes the perfect appetizer for any special occasion.

The original version contains raw mango, but since I live in Romania, I just used a regular unripe mango (anyway all of them are raw here😢😅). I have tried to simplify the original recipe so that it will be accessible for evey one. If you are vegan, just remove the fish. The salad will still be amazing❤️

The recipe will come soon on my blog.

Ingredients
  • 1 Pcs raw mango
  • 1 Pcs carrot
  • 1 Pcs shallot or red onion
  • 1 Pcs red chilli (optional)
  • some coriander leaves
  • some basil leaves
  • 1 Pcs lime
  • 150 g smoked salmon, cooked and shredded (or uncooked, your choice)
  • 2 tbsp chopped peanuts
  • salt (as per taste)
  • vegetable oil (as per taste)
Instructions
  1. Start by peeling and cutting the mango lengthwise in stripes. Do the same with the carrot. Slice the shallot and add it to the carrot and mango. If using red onion, I would suggest leaving the slices in cold water for 10 minutes before adding it to the salad. This way, it will lose its pungency and it will be milder in taste. Wash the basil and coriander leaves and add them to the salad. Add the smoked salmon, chopped peanuts and mix everything well with some vegetable oil and salt.

    Enjoy!
