Description

Halloumi Indian-Style Grilled Skewers (Vegetarian Recipe)

This creation has no origin as such, it is basically a hybrid between Indian food and Greek food. Originally, these are called as "Paneer Tikka", paneer being an Indian type of no-melt cheese, similar to the Greek Halloumi. Due to the impossibility of finding Paneer in Europe, I have substituted it with halloumi and this was the result.

All in all, I feel this is the perfect dinner or lunch when on a grill party, because nobody will be crazy enough like me to turn on the grill during summer, right? If you also have a grill pan, then you're all set.

Ingredients
  • 100 g paneer or Greek halloumi
  • 1 Pcs whole capsicum (or red bell pepper)
  • 1 Pcs big onion
  • 100 g yogurt
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp tandoori masala
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • salt (as per your taste)
Instructions
  1. Cut all the veggies and halloumi or Paneer into cubes.

  2. For the marinade, mix together all the spices, ginger garlic paste, yogurt and salt. Rub the veggies and halloumi thoroughly with the marinade and put them on grilling skewers.

  3.  Grill/Bake until nicely caramelized.

  4. Serve it with sauce of your choice. I served it with coriander chutney, onion and lemon.
